Hello everybody. After i have much liked my 30" sporting blaser mk1 i have purchased a blaser mk2 with 28" barrels. This one has triplex stamped on both barrel which i am looking forward what does this mean? Since my mk1 blaser doesnt have that stamp.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve seen drawings, I think from Fabarms, that showed the triplex boring.

I believe it entailed, longer forcing cones, a long parallel section, a tapered lead into the choke area, and then some length of parallel choking.

I can’t say without seeing the drawing for the Blaser if they are doing the same thing as Fabarms did.

C'mon guys. This search took every bit of 90 seconds. From the Blaser website ..........

Triplex® Bore Design The extremely flat forcing cone of the F3 with an angle of 2,5 degrees, the "overbore" inner diameter of 18,65 mm (0,735") and the magnum and steel proofed caliber 12/76 (3") ensure the perfect combination of optimal muzzle velocity, homogenous shot pattern and moderate recoil.

kem, I'm going to guess that it will do nothing relevant to physically make higher scoring patterns. However, if you believe it will, you may shoot better. The psychological side of shooting is often overlooked by shooters, but rarely by gun company advertising departments.

There is a semi-automatic that was sold by FABARMS called the TriBore. It actually had a series of minute bore diameter changes.

Assuming that 2.5° is given as the angle per side of the cone it is not a particularly long cone, being only about 3/4" long. If it is the included angle then the cones will be around 1˝" long. About 40 yrs ago I bought a little Italian built Richland 707 3" 20 gauge which had 1˝" cones. The bore was constant from cone to choke though.

I have been given dimensions on a couple of Lefever's on which the barrels had step downs in the bore connected by short cones. I have never had a Lefever so bored nor do I know of anyone who has ever found one with a constant taper from Breech to Muzzle as their advertising implied. All I have had any knowledge of, including those with the step-down bores, still had their main choke at the muzzle, in the form of the "Taper Choke".

I will personally agree with Rocketman & say any benefit derived from this boring will be purely & entirely Psychological.

Many machining techniques in the shotgun manufacturing industry came courtesy of the Umgalli tribe of central Africa , famed gunsmiths, but the recession took its toll and the Umgalli danced up and down (bouncing ) in the long grass shouting 'Umgalli , Umgalli ' which translated means Bull Manure. Eventually the Umgalli starved to death and are now extinct but Umgalli was preserved by the Gun trade.
