Item number 36292 on Joe Salter's website (www.joesalter.com) in the "New Arrivals" is a German miniature scheutzen with an 1871 Mauser-like single shot action.

I've been a fan of the B.A.S.S. since my first rifle, a Winchester Model 68 in .22 WRF and still have a couple (based on modern Savage short target actions but with classic European-style slim/schnabled sporting stocks).

But this is one of the most elegant I've seen and is chambered for a cartridge I'd never heard of. Anybody familiar with the history (and popularity?) of the 8x35mm rimmed ctg.?
