I had just a couple conversations with him, on the phone and via email when he had a computer. He was a nice guy.
Godspeed.

Best,
Ted

A good friend both by phone and in person. He deteriorated quickly when his wife died and from that time on, had no caregiver. His collection disappeared under questionable circumstances. It was hard to pay him for small jobs. He did an outrageous skeleton buttplate resroration for me and would not accept payment. I commented about a miniature arbor press in his shop that was identical to Franklin W. Mann's full size press in my shop. He made me take it home. I am so sad to hear this news. Bill Murphy

Ken was great to work with, he did a LC Smith 16ga for me that started out to be similar to a specialty grade. I let him do as he wished and this is what I got, were not any specialtys like this

I learn something every day, and a lot of times it's that what I learned the day before was wrong

Ken was amazing.
Wonderful man, beautiful soul.

Thirteen or so years ago I'd started a Saturday morning tradition of calling him on the telephone and chatting for an hour or so while I stumbled through learning how to keep my gravers sharp and how to get around the vise.

He was so generous.
Every conversation veered quickly to family life, where Ken would share with me his lessons around growing up and navigating the landscape of life with children and in-laws.

I'd gotten busy in life, the time between Saturday calls extended with each season.
Earlier this year I'd heard of his declining condition, and I called him.
He was clear and present to the coming end of his life.
I'd asked if there was anything he needed from me - his only request was that I find anyone who was on shaky ground with their faith and to witness to them as much as possible.

Many of you fellows are far more familiar than I am with the inside of a church. If you have it in you, get out there and spread the word. Sitting here on Thanksgiving day, thinking on Ken's request, I'm fairly sure he was looking out for me as much as he was asking for me to go seek the lost fellows.

Have a great Thanksgiving fellas.
Hoist a glass to Ken, and share his generous spirit where you can.

I never met him, but well remember his generosity back when some of the earlier boards were forming by doing some gratis fund raiser work. I did have the good fortune to communicate w/him on a couple of occasions years ago and will continue to admire his free form of unique engraving.

A special toast to you, Mr. Ken!
