This Monday coming is Alexander Henry's 200th birthday.

Someone suggested it would be a great idea to go fire yours this weekend, or even better, on Monday. If you do - post some photos or a video !

I'll nip down to Warriston cemetery on Monday.

An exhibition on Alexander Henry starts in The People's Museum, High Street, Edinburgh on 8th June, running until September, if you're in town.

There will be an article in a major Scottish newspaper in the next fortnight

That's fantastic!

I'll be in Edinburgh, August 21st, on my way to Perthshire, I'll try to stop at the display.

I'll need a good haggis recommendation as well.

Out there doing it best I can.

Wow, Steve, that is really neat. Did you load it with shot? Shoot it like a Paradox? I have looked at my Henry rifling and thought it could handle shot pretty close up.

No I took the easy route. Rifle is legal in the fall where I hunt for Turkeys. That rifle is deadly accurate with a .366" 200 gr Hawk bullet, 60 grains of Goex express(no longer made), a thin card wad. Sure was fun. I'll be back up there this fall chasing Whitetail and maybe Turkey to. Guns have not been picked out for this years hunt yet.

so it's a .360 BPE, a caliber I have not owned. Beautiful gun. Everything I enjoy about black powder express rifles is right there - the gentle, graceful curves, the sleekness, everything designed for ease of use and easy, accurate pointing. what amazes me is how the BPEs are so effective and yet are considered like toys. Thank you for sharing that, Steve
