On the Vintage Doubles web site there is a Manufrance "Ideal" grade "2R described having a rising bite. I have seen images of Boss and Rigby rising bites but this gun does not resemble either of these guns.

Does anyone have an image which describes the Manufrance rising bite?

Thanks

A cylindrical bolt split so as to form two wedges rises up and wedges the barrel extension in the receiver recess. Simple and self adjusting for wear.

If it was not such a PIA to post pics I would post diagrams and pics of the Ideal system.

Here is the rising bite slightly retracted by pulling the underlever:

Barely retracted, almost fully engaged:

My 314 (pictured), will not be in battery if the rising bite is not perfectly flush. My first outing with the gun was a pheasant hunt in Kansas. I was using some great reload recipes, but had got a little sloppy on some of the crimps. Dog and hunter had put in a lot a work on tracking down a lightly hit rooster, and I had the humiliation of watching him fly off while the gun went "click, click," light striking the primers.
