Not all chopper lump barres have the under lump as one piece, in fact most don't, but it is in two halves, one part attached to each barrel.

Can you tell by the barrel flat picture I posted if my gun is demi-block construction?

Homeless Joe, if you'd get a new set of glasses and not be so quick to criticize you'd see the gun is resting not on a rock but on an old cottonwood tree trunk.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

No, you will need to look, with the aid of a good magnifier, at the bottom of the under-lug, as well as the breech face beneath the extractors for a seam. Also look to see if you can determine if the under-lug is attached by some other method.

We have a member here who discovered that underneath his blued barrels were a set of Damascus barrels with Pieper's name repeating in the pattern.

Henri Pieper was also a co-founder and original managing partner of FN, which I believe is now the world's largest maker of sporting arms and an integral part of the success of Browning.

What an innovative gun maker and industrialist he was. Decades ahead of his time.

What an amazing find, lettered Damascus under blued finish.

2 Pieper,

The attached are pictures of the barrels I took while reviewing construction. To me it looks as though lower section of breach is extension of barrels, no evidence of dovetail. Based on my research I am thinking chopper lump.

Let me know your thoughts.

Phil

River Ridge;
Sorry, but I just cannot see enough detail to determine whether this is copper lump or not. I would not be overly concerned if it isn't though. I have over the years used conventional, dovetailed, shoe & mono-block barrels & I seem to recall perhaps ONE chopper lumped barrel. None ever came apart. The Pieper of course had the loose forearm lug & have had a few loose ribs, but those are entirely different issues.

Go back to the image on p.3. There is no evidence of a Diana

As displayed in the following image the barrels are one piece, no separator line as is case with mono Bloc. Understanding mono Bloc would be fine as well.

Just trying to find out information.
