Yes, California has gone insane: the gun laws are lunatic; we 'celebrate' illegals who murder our young women, while inviting more by the million in a transparent effort to turn us into Mexico's Alta California again; SF is suffering an epidemic of street and public transit crime because it would be racist to arrest criminals of color; PC politics are destroying our young folks' brains; the techie invasion has pushed the cost of living beyond most people's means. I fulminate obsessively against the idiocy and frequently think about leaving, but:

We still have a fabulous diversity of landscapes and scenery (albeit tragically lacking in large mammals), great duck hunting, more prestigious research universities than anywhere else, wonderful restaurants, and these days you can even have a toke without fear of arrest.

On balance, I think I will stay.

I agree with the Mexican issues. we are starting to get the same problem north of the border. not so much the crime...but them striving for the lowest common denominator...re lowering working standards, illigals filling the work force, particularly in construction..

Life is too short to have a 'hate on' for so many things or people. Isn't it?

That problem exists in EU except low wage workers aren't from Central or South America. It will not go away because people keep hiring illegal aliens w/o fear for any consequences. It's obvious that people will come to places where wages are higher and standard of living is higher. The fault for current situation lies only with the ones giving them the jobs. They are basically fucking everyone to realize better profit margins.

I make this topic more worthwhile by answering question "What's the least expensive 'best gun'? Answer Union Armera 219E. The trick is to find one in game gun configuration: straight grip, splinter, double triggers and traditional game rib.

using the tax base excuse for pot or boozes legality is a moot point. no matter how much tax is raised, itll just be deverted back to the users for rehab costs and emergency responders trying to revive them after wrapping their cars around telephone poles.
I would be cheaper to not allow pot and fine the ones who use it...so their fines could go towards the needs of the good people of the state.

Maybe, a little common sense is creeping in. Unemployment 'benefits' may become contingent on passing a drug test.

Aside from many other good reasons, pot is either illegal or state legalized largely for 'recreational' purposes. Why should a social safety net pay for any recreational expense, other than to back social engineering with funding.

"Comparing Beretta S Series and SO Series..." is running out of "steam". To avert boredom I suggest "Comparing Beretta SO series with Merkel Brothers 300 series and Escopeta Superpuesta AyA Modelo 37." wink

Comparing the US to any other sanctuary town is getting boring. Maybe, to avert boredom, you two could get a room?

There was never any doubt in my mind. If you ever did leave, it would be to go to someplace like Utah or Montana and screw that up with your Leftist Socialist crap, like rocky mtn bullshit Billy. Your Liberalism has shined here like a quasar for a long time.

One big difference between Conservatives and Liberals is that most Conservatives aren't afraid to admit it, and they don't try to conceal it.

In Re: The Problem of Low Wage Illegal Workers...

This thing that dla (sic) finds so disturbing could be explained easily in his particular circumstance...

If you needed some construction work done, would you rather hire a strong motivated illegal Mexican... or an illiterate dwarf?

Keith, I used to wonder why you continue to post the same crap over and over. Now I understand it's all you know or are capable of. Having adopted an ideology that insulates you absolutely from rational thought, you have no choice except to endlessly repeat yourself. Why would you say liberals are afraid to admit their position? I've never pretended to be a Tea Bagger. The country is hopelessly slanted in favor of those who own all the wealth. Earnings are at an all-time high. The market is booming. Employment is growing very slowly. Wages remain stagnant. What is there about that scenario for ordinary people to celebrate? Instead of opposing taxation as theft, why not support the idea of making government smarter and more effective instead of resenting the fact that it exists? PS: why is an illiterate dwarf the alternative to an illegal, hard-working Mexican? That sounds like one of Craig's non-sequiters.
