I am contemplating this on a WC Scott SLE 10 Gauge. The gun has a few problems with a bad restock and needed ejector work; however, the barrels and action are sound. The bores are .775 with 40 points of choke in each barrel. Chambers are 3. Ive heard that overbored 12s throw wonderful patterns, but would .775 be too large for a 12? Anyone have experience with this and who could be recommended to do the work?

The Stan Baker "Big Bore" Trap barrels were essentially the chamber, .800" all the way to the choke.

This is a short article on chamber sleeving by Diggory Hadoke. I considered it on a 10, but ended up selling the gun instead.

Briley can do the work although I am sure there are people who are more specialized.

I prefer to use chamber inserts that can be removed.

I have a hammer Remington pigeon gun which started life as a 10 and was chamber sleeved to 12. I bought the gun as a sleeved chamber gun and it produces great patterns. I also have a single barrel for an 870 Rem made by Moneymaker Guncraft that is 10 with a 12 chamber, again wonderful patterns. The only issue I have heard of is in cold weather where the plastic skirts on plastic shot cups may not flair properly and allow pressure leakage.
I don't shoot either of these guns in COLD weather so I haven't experienced this personally.

I chamber sleeved a Fox 16 down to 20. The chambers had been heavily pitted because two paper shells had been left in them for decades. They had to be sleeved to save the barrels. I decided to go down to 20 ga. as I had other 16's exactly like the ruined barrels, 30" f&f. Having a extra set of 20 ga. Extractors on hand helped. Plus I liked the 30" barrels thinking they would make a great long range dove shooting setup. Plans were to restock it for sporting clays and. Ate season dove gun. That has not happened yet but hopefully one day......

I've thought about chamber sleeving 10/12 on several guns. It just makes the ammo situation so much easier. Plus I can reload from components on hand, low pressure loads which would give me a lot of flexibility in shooting situations. The only thing that's has held me back is weight. I don't shoot that many heavy doubles these days. Given equal choke and fit I just go with the lightest gun. Most tens are heavier than a 12 made in the same period. I'd try using 10/12 chamber adapters to see if you like shooting the gun as a 12 before you invest too much time and money into the project.

The Mossberg 835 and 935 come with .775" bores, seem to be really good at throwing good patterns with steel shot.

Here's my 10-12 GaugeMate's.

You might be able to find similar on eBay. At HoJo's suggestion I notched them at the top so I could pick the empty casing out easier. I also spread them slightly so they'd grip the walls of the chamber better. That way they'd just lift up in the chamber like a normally extracted shotshell after which I'd flick out the empty with my fingernail.

Thanks for the replies. Briley no longer does this. Is there anyone else besides Kirk Merrington?
