Does any one know where I could get 2 inch lyalvale shells had some years ago but I am all out great shell for 2 inch gun, also anyone had experience with 2 inch RST thanks Jim

I have used the 2" RSTs for grouse & woodcock, and they seem to work well.

I had a two inch Arrieta a few years ago and used Lyalvale and RST. I much preferred the RST. Those Lyalvale shells packed a hell of a wallop in a sub six pound gun. Pattern wise they were similar. Neither could I detect any difference in hunting performance. Lyalvale shells are really nice looking. Probably the color, or lack of color, makes a very elegant looking cartridge.

Yes, I have a flat of the Lyalvale 2" ammo and I am going to just shoot it up in autoloader's because of the recoil

I use to roll my own using cut down Federal Paper hulls. They were so cute when loaded with a roll crimp and smelled even better when fired. My 2" was just too light to shoot the Laylvale factory shells. I think I shot about four of them before I went to reloading my own. They were not pleasant in a 5 pound gun.

Thanks guys will give RST a try just got my 2 inch Jeffery that weighs 5lbs 4oz, went on RST web site and they have 15/16 oz of shot but my gun is proofed for 7/8 do you think I can use that load? also what do you guys think of the 2 inch gun?

I had a Skimin and Wood made 2" about ten years ago. It was a wand. Thought it might be a great gun to carry but found it was too light to shoot well. Reloading Federal Paper hulls was a fairly fun thing to do. They loaded easily, roll crimped well and patterned well. But when you come right down to it the 2" 12 is just an attempt to make a ultra light 12 do what a standard 20 can do just as well. So I paid extra for the right to roll my own short shells when I could have just bought a 20. They are fun for a while.

Interesting to know as I use Eley 2 inch or my own reloads but have bought some Lyalvale; about 100, and not yet used them. Although they will be safe in a 2" gun due to CIP compliance part of the joy of a 2" 12 bore is the light handling and lack of recoil. I will try a few in a 6 pound plus gun first. Lagopus.....

I had some Lyalvale 2 1/2" shells some years ago. They packed quite a wallop also. But we probably need to remember that most of the short shells we get on this side of the pond are field loads, not target loads. You can make up reloads a whole lot lighter.
