A nice William Evans Boxlock is for sale locally. A little bit of debate on the value. Built 1938, 12 gauge, modified and full, 70% of case colors remain, gun is tight, dolls head along with purdey style double underbolts, 70% engraving coverage on action, ejector gun, drop points, two triggers, straight grip, moderate grain wood, bore mike as unhoned, no dents in metal or bruises in wood cw makers canvas and leather case labeled and with rosewood rod and brushes. What would fair market value be in your vicinity? Estimates here range from $3,000 to $6,000 pretty big spread.

BV2-OQ6-CC3 = $3500. Evans name definitely fits in second brand value level. Gun sounds like an Original Quality grade of second grade BLE which is OQ6. Current Condition level sounds like "Significent use" which is CC3. BV2-OQ6-CC2 = $4650 where CC2 = "Limited use - slight finish wear, little shooting." Thats my story and I'm stickin' with it!

If this is the same gun discussed over on uplandjournal, it's described there--I believe by the individual who has it for sale--as an extractor gun. Can't believe it would make $3K if it's a BLNE, even with a case and accessories. The name is worth something, but Evans boxlocks were Brummie guns built "in the trade".

When you say Wm. Evans, boxlock extractor, it can be a bunch of different guns, from a plain gun to a highly carved and engraved gun. Probably made by Webley Scott, these are hard to price by "Name".

This is definitely an ejector gun. It is niceley engraved with vine and floral motif but it is not deep engraving. The gun carries London proof marks but believe Daryl that you are correct in it being a Scott action. Still with long side panels and drop points and being is such good condition I believe that the $3,000 mark is not overly high. My opinion was that the evaluation of $6,000 was much too high. Thanks for the responses.
