According to this article in Outdoor Life, http://www.outdoorlife.com/gander-mountain-files-bankruptcyGander Mountain has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. They also announced they intend to close 32 stores in 11 states. It looks like most of them (the article contains a list) are in the South, with 10 stores in Texas on the block. As many, if not most, of you know, Chapter 11 is a reorganization, not a liquidation, so they intend to continue as a going concern. But, they also appear to be earnestly seeking someone to buy them.

We tend to take care of our stuff and if you do the same stuff lasts forever. That, in itself, is a tough retail market catering to an even tougher retail customer.
I guess they, including Cabela's, found out the hard way.

A new GM opened with fanfare near my home a couple of months ago. They ran ads touting their extensive gun room and shooting supplies. I popped in to get a flat each of 16 bore and 28. The guy at the counter said come back in the fall, such runs of ammo were "seasonal", if at all. Have not been back since.

Our local Walmart carries more 16 gauge ammo then the nearby Gander Mountain.

I was a regular customer for years, and frequently purchased whole shopping carts of shells when the price was right.
Before they sold their mail order operation to Cabela's, I was a frequent buyer of apparel. I still have some of it.
Also found a Belgium A-5 there for a fair price as well as a very nice Marlin rifle.
They were one of the places that attempted to profit from the recent 'shortages'. Their poor performance is their own fault.

I was in my local WalMart yesterday & noticed they had about a half dozen boxes of 16's on the shelf. They were all Federals in two different loadings of #6 shot. The milder load had 1oz of shot @ 1165 fps @$7.97 s mbox. Heavier load was 1 1/8oz at 1265 fp[s I believe it was for $12. something. a box. I also noted they had some Federal 12ga listed as heavy field load 3žDE-1žoz #5 (1220fps) These were around the same price as the lighter 16 load or close to #8.00 a box. .
