What type of blueing is used on this shotguns? I have a BSS sidelock that needs reblueing since it has handling marks on the barrell which looks not good. I have tried to google the type of blueing but couldnt find any reference. Does anyone has an idea about this?

Best,

Kem

Check with the company service centers: http://www.browning.com/support/parts-service/authorized-service-center-listing.html

Possibly hot blued, but still could be rust blued...

One of my BSS sidelocks needed the barrels redone as the bluing was starting to thin due to a lot of field use. I had them rust blued and they turned out really nice, although not the very high gloss blue as they were originally done. I think that the ribs were soft soldered which would leave out hot blueing.

My box lock BSS has brazed barrels, so I believe it could be hot blued. Nonetheless, when I had the gun engraved, Del Whitman rust blued the barrels and they look great.

Art does a great job of blueing, he does Brownings every day , he also does others. He did a very nice job on a 21 for me.

Actually, that BSS came in needing barrel bluing (referenced above). The receiver (which is entirely different metallurgically) also needs bluing (as referenced in an earlier post) and that one is going out soon but the receiver gets HOT blued. I'm not set up to do that as I don't have much call for it. Gil

Guys, he's in Cyprus in the Mediterranean. Don't see him shipping it to Art's.
