Have any of you case colored one of the old regular frame guns with the two piece top tang? I'm wondering what is the best way to brace those tangs to prevent possible warping on the quench? Plus any shielding that has proved useful to slow the charcoal washing. Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark, I was thinking (sometimes a bad thing) to get the colors to evenly blend across the top strap it would need to be attached. The FW 20 circa. 1926, I did, was assembled with spacers between the tangs and the lock plates. It's just the screw holding the extension on is so small and it's a blind hole. Just trying to prevent problems. MKII

No, nor even better- a Receiver-- remember in grammar school-"E before I, except in the word "pie"--then it's i before e, in Kansas and Tennessee"-- But I have top tang and safety parts from a 12 gauge 00 grade with the older two-piece top design-- RWTF

leave a screw in the hole, that part is long and very thin if i had to chose between hard fitting the tang as one piece, or the colors not being perfectly matched i would take the colors not matching, like i said i haven't hardened one of those but i could see that twisting when quenched. good luck i hope it goes well for you. Most always is, but as my late Mother was a HS English and grammar teacher, I grew up being very watchful for improper spelling and grammar. At age 75, old habits die hard!!
