After I had the 20 gauge Orion over under fitted and modified to fit my wife and daughter (both are 5 foot 1 inch tall) my wife does not use the gun because when closing the action, the tang safety stays in the fire position. She wants the safety to move to the Safe position. I have been told this was true for all the Orion guns. Can this be corrected so upon closing the action , the safety moves to the safe position?

If it can't be modified, couldn't they (she) just get into the habit of putting it On Safe after closing? But safety is important It would be a shame not to use it , after having it fit for them Hope it works out Franc

The gun was made in Japan and is several years old but look new as it has been used only on skeet and sporting clays range until it's first upland bird outing last week. " If it can't be modified, couldn't they (she) just get into the habit of putting it On Safe after closing?" Yes, but that suggestion has been rejected and I have not been able to stay married 50 years by arguing with my wife! I am too old to begin doing my own cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, etc.

Thanks Skeettx. I will see what I can do to locate such a person in the Dallas area.
My daughter's SKB/Ithaca 20 gauge is the reason she does not take the Orion. SKB has made some good guns.
BTW, I was raised about 50 miles from you near Borger. We ran all over hunting with Winchester pump .22 and Parker 20 ga. So many hunts that I cannot remember them all. There a lot of quail, doves, rabbits and such back then.

No worries Franc; we worked something out. She can shoot my circa 1900 Parker 20 ga on a 28 ga frame as it was originally made for a woman and recently resurrected with a period recoil pad ( the original Parker plastic butt plate was cracked).
