I have a Francotte sxs possibly a model 14E, that is stamped with the VL and D importer name on the barrels. I know that VL&D preceeded Abercrombie and Fitch, but wonder when the takeover was made. The gun in question has an 84000 serial number which places it somewhere between 1922 and 1926 from serial number tables on this website.

If you will reveal the complete serial number I can probably tell you the model and the date of acquisition, unless it was made for the European market. You could send me the number at Griffin & Howe if you don't want to post it.
