This subject has puzzled me for a couple decades having extremely limited success with different formulae and soak environments. We'll reserve the details of my process because it simply does not work. But, here's a couple excellent articles:

Damascus Restoration and Refinish

Flanigan's Restoration Tutorial

Hope this helps.

This is not a simple process. It has an extensive learning curve. To expect success without developing a significant level of experience is unrealistic.

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

Black and white would be correct for pretty much any American made double with damascus barrels.
