I am having difficulty getting the top lever spring back into a Parker GH after doing a strip and clean. I don't think it is possible to clamp the spring on both sides so it seems it has to be pushed in from one side. I know it fits because I took it out to clean it and it worked fine. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thank you, Gil

Gil, get some needle nose vise grips, taper the end and solder some copper or brass pads on them. you will find them very useful for other V spring work.

What you need is a spring "gizzy". I probably have a dozen that I have made up for different size springs over the years. Here is a video from the Midland series with Jack Rowe. About 11 minutes in he shows his "gizzy". Anyone dealing with doubles will find these videos a real treasure. Best regards, Jack P.S. if the link doesn't work search "gunsmithing the british double".
