A buddy wants to get the barrels on his Ruger Red Label re-blued, Ruger won't do it (too old).
Any recommendation in the southern NY, western CT area? Mitch Shultz in Southport?
What should this cost for a hot blue? I'm used to rust bluing particulars...

Hot bluing is usually done on a lot basis. Same price base price if one part is done or 12 parts are done. That is basically for heating up the tanks and time to blue. Cost to polish os another story and that is where the vaiable is.
There is Gunsmithing LTD down by the Ruger facility in Southern CT. Malcolm Clark is in Central CT.

I have used Mitch Shultz(Gunsmithing LTD.) several times for barrel bluing. Very nice work and a great guy to deal with. If you call just leave a message. He very seldom answers the phone. But will call you back.....

Thanks guys, Gunsmithing LTD is Mitch Schultz and that's where we'll go.
Abe Chaber does most of my other work but that's rust bluing. Abe might have a fit if I mentioned Hot Blue..
Woody, Turnbull is about 6 hours from Southport, CT.
thanks,
Rob

Woody, what's the grouse situation up there in the Finger Lakes area? Still quite a few around. Just like anywhere else they have there ups and downs. I had an awesome spot up close to Lake Ontario that I can hunt anymore. Always put up 4-5 ever time I hunted. I miss that place!!! Also had a lot of woodcock come through. Used to see them every spring too during turkey season. Somewhere I have a pic of one sitting on a nest. Now that I have a few boys old enough to hunt them I'm going to get out after them a lot this winter. When I was growing up that's all we hunted every Sunday during the winter.
