A friend brought his new-to-him MX3 to the range and had trouble opening the gun. I looked at it and the top firing pin hole was "dished in" and enlarged around the edge. On firing with factory Federal 12 ga, he had to break the gun over his knee to get it open. There was a smear mark on the fired primer and the primer protruded slightly, enough to trap the firing pin. Has anyone experienced this,or seen this? I presume the hole can be bushed. He has just bought the gun, should he get his money back?. Was he shafted? Is the MX3 of lower quality than the MX8? The barrels do not have the side locking lugs of the MX8. I'll try to photograph the breech face and the base of the hull, which was a new one when fired. Any help appreciated! Mikey

Just did some work on a MX3, a local expert on Perrazi's called the MX3 an econemy model but still made of high quality steel and well machined.

Giacomo sporting can repair it. I've seen it with the old TM-1 guns that had many, many rounds fired through them. They build up the action face then file it down. Is the MX-3 a combo set where the single barrel may have been fired a lot?

Yes it is, I think mostly shot single barrel, top firing pin. I'm in Canada, so cannot ship out of the country. I advised the new owner to return the gun and ask for his money back.

It's an easy fix, but it is tell tale the gun has been fired thousands and thousands of times.

Many thanks to you folks. After reading your comments I passed them on to my friend who is getting a full refund, as he rightly should. As we Brits say, the gun is knackered.
