Recovering my health and not moving about too much. I read both of MP's volumes, cover to cover. In the section on Harvey Rogers, MP mentions the book "Muzzle Flashes", by Ellis Christian Lenz. As MP wrote, this is a great book. My copy is dated 1944. It is printed on very thin paper, but the paper is good quality, as opposed to most of the wartime junk. In my copy, the paper is so thin that the print on the opposite side of the sheet shows through.

Was this book ever printed or issued on a heavier paper?

This must be a fairly obscure book because I can only find about 5 or 6 copies for sale in the U.S. and U.K. It appears there was only one edition and two printings (1944 and 1949)by the same publisher, Standard Publications. You could check the listings on these sites and contact the sellers to ask if the edition they have is printed on thin translucent paper. The copy listed on E-bay is a 1944 edition, and you can see that the pages are glossy and thin enough to see the print on the back side of the page. Sorry to hear you've been ill. Hope you're feeling better.

A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.

The copy I have has the same cover and 1944 date as the e-bay book, but the paper is quite heavy, with no show through. It is about 2" thick like the one on the amazon link above. The e-bay book looks thinner. I did buy another copy for a friend, and as I recall it was on thinner paper. Bryndon, do you remember the date on your copy?

I really enjoyed reading this book. Not only the information about Rodgers and other early gunsmiths, but as a competitive shooter who has been to Camp Perry for the last 29 years, the stories about his experience there were very interesting.

I don't recall any issues when reading it, and seeing the print from the other pages would be a little distracting. I'll check tonight.

It is a great book. Funny how it just showed up in the mailbox that day...

Mine is the second printing and has the thinner paper. It's not as distracting as I thought it might be, but you can definitely see the print on the back side
