Local guy has a 16ga dbl bbl in VG cond. I don't anything abt them other that what my 5yr old Blue Book says. Can anyone shed light on the make? How's the design, quality, fit, finish, value, etc etc? BB says similar to Elsie, etc could this be right?

Shoot, there are a number of different models, making your question tough to answer. I don't have any experience with the sidlocks. The boxlocks were usually utilitarian guns. In 16 gauge the Forehand versions were light and nicely rounded. I shoot one occasionally with low pressure loads. A good reference book is Tip Up Shotguns from Hopkins & Allen by Charles E Carder.
