Does anyone know where Leopold's Fox is today? Agree with the previous comments about SCA; a wonderful book about the out of doors that wasn't written with flowery prose or cliché.

It is in a museum. I think in Wisconsin, but, my stomach always churns a little bit when I think of a gun in a museum, subject to the whims of the people running it. I think the Ruffed Grouse Society magazine just had a piece on the gun and the guns owner.
Best, Ted

The gun is displayed at the Aldo Leopold Foundation outside of Baraboo Wisconsin. The center is located just a short walk from the "Shack".
It was only recently found in the Pacific Northwest, his grandson had it in a closet for decades.
The first story was in Double Gun Journal Fall 2014, there are some others coming out.

Ah, Aldo Leopold was a name I heard many times growing up. My late Uncle Albert Hochbaum was a student of Leopold's. It was Leopold who convinced Hochbaum to travel to the marshland of Delta, Manitoba in 1931 where Hochbaum was to become the first scientific director of the Delta station, now commonly known as Delta Waterfowl. Though born in Colorado, Hochbaum fell in love with the prairie and marshland of Manitoba. He and Leopold were also great friends.

Albert Hochbaum was an amazing man. In many ways, he along with Leopold developed the foundation for post "endless land" restoration of the landscape, that continues today. I know he wrote several books, some I have, but wasn't he also a very talented artist?

I know he wrote several books, some I have, but wasn't he also a very talented artist? Yes, he did many a painting using different mediums as well as pen & ink drawings. Several times he traveled to the North in the spring where he spent time among the Inuit people and got inspiration from the landscape for different paintings. He was awarded the Order of Canada for his many contributions to conservation and artistic works and publications.

Among his other accomplishments he must be remembered as the guy (with a bunch of kids running around outside all day) that convinced his wife Estella that a new shotgun would serve the family better than a washing machine.
Double Gun Journal had a story. Fall 2014 Wow. What a woman!
