Good thing is you can exercise lot of different guns, thats the reason for all the different classifications.

For Example Fall Southern SxS. I put the emphasis on 12 G Hammerless American Classic event. It's the gun I shoot most and a class with plenty of competition. 10 G will shoot both Hammer and Hammer less again the American Classic event. Not a lot of people shoot the 10's but they sure are fun.

If you have American Doubles they can also be entered in the regular events were guns of any county origin are allowed. Gives you a warm up with that particular gun before you go for your primary event.

Any of the events I use a light shot load shell 7/8 in the 12 1 1/8 oz in the 10 G. Carry about a third spreader loads 2/3 regular. Lot of targets light recoil is your friend.

This year I may not shoot the 20 G and will not shoot 16 G . Instead will add the Parker - Smith Trap event with a Parker SC and perhaps the Pump gun with a Remington 31. Side events for me, not the primary focus. Although will work hard on Trap for a while to see if I can improve something I rarely shoot. You cant do them all ! pick a few and have fun.

I prefer the older Parker's or Ithaca's, as I find I shoot best with about 3" of drop at the heel. The four guns that I use most for clay's are a 10 ga., Grade 2 Hammer Parker choked Mod/Mod, a 12 ga., Parker DH choked Mod/Full, a 16 ga., Parker DH choked IC/Mod ( although I recently purchased a 16 ga. Parker GH choked Skeet/IC that I plan on breaking in soon), and finally a 20 ga., Grade 4 Ithaca Flues.
By the way, If you plan on attending the Rock Mountain event and want two weekends of shooting, Steve Cobb is hosting his annual event at Hausmann's Hidden Hollow the following weekend. Bring plenty of ammo for that one, as it's a flat fee, all you can shoot event.

I have a 32 in. 7 3/4 lb Midland 12 ga. that I use for Sporting. I have a 1892 Rem. 10 ga. chamber sleeved to 12 ga., a Cashmore, and a 1914 damascus W.W.Greener that I use for ZZ's. The Rem. and Greener are hammer guns and all 3 are stocked as pigeon guns.

Woody, "Mike of the Mountain's" shoot is just down the road from the Northeast Side by Side. Do Mike's shoot and you will get the lay of the land for two great shoots.

Fun obviously means different things to different people. Fun for some means breaking all the targets with a big ol' 12. Fun for others may mean breaking as many targets as possible with their .410 or 28, etc. Different strokes for different folks, makes the world go 'round.

The very few fellows I see shooting 410 in SxS shoots are either limited by physical condition to the little guns or really great shots or are looking for an excuse for poor showing.

A Springer Spaniel, a 6# double and a fair day to hunt.
