I was afraid it was the end when Jack didn't show up for his class in Tishomingo. He had called me just a couple weeks before to talk about how excited he was to once again be passing on some of his vast knowledge to a new group of students. The week I spent with him in North Carolina several years ago taught me more about double gun work than I could have learned in a lifetime of trial and error. Always generous with his wit and insights, Jack's passing leaves a huge void in my professional calendar. I only wish I could have spent a day on the bank with him angling for his beloved carp.

Sorry to hear of this sad news. I enjoyed his videos as well. A true master who will be missed.

I just watched his video on bending a stock. I was curious how to do it and his Brownell video explained to nicely. I'm fairly new to doubles so I hadn't really heard of him.

Methinks that carp fishing is not all that dissimilar to a bent toward double guns; both require a certain passion and awareness of the nuance of execution to be truly appreciated. Neither should rightfully expect to be fully appreciated by those not anointed or at least having had the benefit of a decent mentor.

I have never met Mr Rowe so can't comment on his skills at gunsmithing.
However a guy that appreciates carp fishing can't be completely bad...
May his true friends and family accept my condolences.

I used to make a point of stopping by to chat with Jack at various SHOT Shows. He was always informative and pleasant and a true gentleman.

Jack's formal obituary has now been posted to the Funeral Home Website. Unfortunately it's buried a little deep. A condolence book has been opened, but has a 24hr delay review period. I'm sure it would bring some measure of comfort to his family and friends both here and back in the UK if any of you who've commented above would consider leaving a message of condolence.
