.....just wasn't enough to do. I mean, we only had Argentine Clays, seventeen sporting clay stations, crazy skeet, trap, and bull sessions out under the stars. To say nothing of museum class goodies stacked everywhere. And we didn't have enough to eat--just steak and salmon, gourmet venison and caribou, duck Cajun gumbo, and to die for sides. Why, a feller could starve to death......but not at Raton!

Sure sorry I missed this event Joe, but I got tied up with a health issue at the last minute and could not get away. Hopefully another time?

Shot with the Rocky Mt. vintagers today and had a splendid time!!! Good to see you there again Mark. (I was the fellow in the tower, with the "book".) Nice of those fellows from Amarillo to throw in a courtesy miss now and then to make us feel good.

Pray, tell, what are Argentine clays? Thanks, Jeff

Pray, tell, what are Argentine clays? Thanks, Jeff Argentine clays is a misnomer, but what we shoot is a random arrangement of targets laid out in a five-stand array, similar to what might encounter in a dove shoot in Argentina. The shooter never moves and the clays come randomly, in pairs, as fast as the shooter can handle. We watch for the gun closing, so everyone gets a fair chance. Tons of fun. Everyone walks away with smile. We have a book, The Book of Lost Clays, that has the sequences, calculated by some rocket scientist.

And the shooter does not stand in a five stand cage but moves forward into the middle of the clay machines. We set up a table at that point for the shooter to lay his equipment. Presentations can be from directly overhead to fast outbound flyers. Incredible fun. Hard to describe but difficult to forget once you've done it.
