I remember that Oscar had donated the GH grade Parker and he had extensive knowledge on how it had failed.

Ron Graham is the gent who did all the analyis according to what he told me. He was VP of an exotic metals subsidiary of LTV steel in those days. He told me they made the barrels for the Merkel 16ga Parkers.as well as failure analyis for a number of folks in the aerospace and defense industry. He developed the titanium alloy in your "Marathon Knee " replacement as well as the flexible titanium eyeglass frames. I kknow he did a failure analysis for a friend who had a barrel pop with a target load.
He told me last evening in conversation the data he had had never been published but perhaps he did put out a little bit. I doubt it though. He's not one to tease you with a little and then dry up. He's tell it all if he had posted anything. I'll see him again tomorrow and see if he is game to get it out. He indicated last night it was a shame nobody had ever seen the data.
He is a serious metallurgist and will willingly help most anyone with information.

Ron Graham is indeed 'Zircon' and he sent his metallurgical analysis to the PGCA BOD in 2006. He and I talked by phone in 2008.

He might consider giving written permission to the PGCA to post his study "Interim Metallurgical Failure Analysis of the Bell/Armbrust Parker Barrels".

While I of course agree with everyone else on this site who would surely take an interest in this information, I'm afraid to have to admit that, in front of my eyes, it all would turn to meaningless dreck in an alarmingly short time. Which is NOT to say that it IS. Only that my adherence to charts and pressure curves and such can only go so far and in this matter, I long ago have decided to go on an inspired form of trust backed up by others' hard work and have enjoyed collecting and shooting Damascus barreled double shotguns and rifles for at least a decade now with nary an accident. So sure, let's have at it.
