I remember following a thread some time ago (maybe 2-3 years ago?) about a gunsmith who provided a pictorial documentary on his restocking of a side lock gun. The work he performed was exemplary. Unfortunately, I can not remember the gunsmith's name, or any other specifics to help narrow down the search.

After futility searching for quite some time now, I need help in finding the thread again. I am hoping someone might read this, and it will ring a bell.

This is the thread on the Purdey. A couple years later Claudio did one on restocking a Fox B grade. Loved that one!!

Another great one for a DIY subforum.

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

The Purdey restock is the one I was thinking of. Thank you everyone.

And yes, a DIY/restoration forum would be a wonderful idea.

There is an interesting pictorial on Paul Hodgin's site restocking a sidelock double rifle.

I trust you will enjoy.
