Found this on the cover of the April 18, 1931 copy of The Sport's Review. (I know, a little behind on my reading.)
Center man looks like he is holding a Smith, Can't be sure of the man on the far left but the rest of the guys look like they are holding Ithacas-Knick and Flues SBTs. The guy on the left may be holding a NID?

We need a lot more of that, but its in some too many ways a bygone era, excepting the jackets .. timeless.

FWIW, the last person I knew who always wore a tie when shooting was Phil Miller.

I think Destry dresses up from time to time. Cuts quite a figure, too.

Bygone era all right - when was the last time the NYAC sponsored a trap shoot?

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

A million years ago when I was a trap mechanic for the PA state shoot (late 1980's) there was one guy who always shot in a shirt and tie. We called him "Mr. Clean," he shot a Ljutic.

Fashion styles have sure changed. Most my current trap shooting friends are much more over weight than those fellows. The last time that they wore a tie was their wedding, if ever.

Walt thanks for the photo. Dr. Drew has quite a few of these and for those that belong to the L.C. Smith Organization, the upcoming Spring Journal has an article about Trap Shooters of Yesteryear that we try to put in every Journal.

We have a member who owned an Eagle single barrel trap gun that Phil Miller owned. He wrote an article about it in one of our Journals. He set quite a few records including being the first to shoot 100 straight at 25 yards. He was also the oldest person to get drafted at the age of 51 to teach aerial gunnery.
He is listed in the Trap Shooters Hall of Fame.

One of the best books on vintage trap shooters is the book "The Road to Yesterday, A Collection of Old Trapshooting Stories" by the late Dick Baldwin.
