I was looking for a SXS waterfowl gun. I purchased this Watson Brothers from a dealer back east. It has two sets of barrels. First has 32" proofed for 3" and 1 5/8oz loads and the second are 28" proofed for 1 1/8oz. It's built like a double rifle with the trigger guard extending down the grip to the metal grip cap. It has unique fences and nice engraving. Stock had been broken and repaired previously which was disclosed and priced accordingly. I picked up a nice solid Turkish set for a song on eBay to be fit if the stock ever broke. First trip out with my new gun it kills a Mallard over the decoys. Went to eject the shell and the stock comes apart. So off to the stocker it goes. Got the gun back a couple weeks ago. Now it's happy again and not expecting to break at the wrist anytime soon. I'm really looking forward to next waterfowl and pheasant seasons so I can take the Watson Bros. out regularly.

That was a definite oops. The better stock makers (like Trevallion) could make the original one like new. Not cheap and costs stock sellers like me because of no need for a new blank, but their quality work is simply amazing.

You got a nice blank for sure. Lots of wood on Ebay from time to time. Unfortunately layout is often marginal or god awful. Your layout looks good.
PS. I bought a circassian blank off Ebay a few years ago and my stockmaker cut it up into forearm blanks because he said the layout was too poor to use the wood for anything else. That was a learning experience.

Nice. Who restocked her if you don't mind? Looks like to me the orig had been refinished too hard with sanding, bc of gap wood to metal (metal proud of wood). A shame though. That old French walnut is beautiful and next to impossible to replace.

The wood on the replacement stock is excellent, but the original was YUMMMEEEE!
However, the original stock was styled too much like a rifle for me with its too-close pistol grip. Your replacement is much better shaped, IMO. Nice.

I considered this gun last year and had a chance to shoot it at the Southern SXS. Gorgeous gun! Perfect for ducks and clays.

When a wrist breaks up that close to the action, it is hard to get a good repair. Not necessarily harder Brian,the repair from the pic look's to have just been chemical (glue /epoxy) by rights it should have been a combination of chemical and mechanical ie; rods ,fillets etc,there are a dozen different ways to do this ... it should not have broken again through normal use . I'f I were the OP ,I would not toss the original wood ,it can be fixed. New stock is nice by the way ,great looking gun and thanks for posting
