On my JP Sauer mauser sporter, the one I just got a Lyman 35 rear sight for, I need to replace the front sight with a higher one to work well with the Lyman. After shooting it some and figuring out how off it is, I find I need a sight taller than the one on it by about .180". So a total height of about 1/2".

It is the narrow style dovetail sight with the rounded base at the rear that pushes in from the front. Not side to side dovetail like most modern sights. Width at the base is .190" and it is .90" long.

Looks like this: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/1287470.htm

NECG offers many sights that are of this style, but none that are tall enough and I cannot find anybody else that seems to offer that type of sight. I will make one of I have to, but figured I would ask if anyone out there knows of anyone selling them or offering blanks that can be shaped down.

B., I had the identical problem on two Mauser, one a Sauer and the other a Peterlongo, and had to have our local smith make me two. One for jacketed loads and one for cast loads. I did have to file them to shape and height but that was not a problem. I wish I knew of a source to tell you about.

I suggest a "Patridge"type as tall as possible, then file to height.Easier than having to contend with a bead.

The folks that I know of use a sight like from GunParts and cut it down and soldier/weld on a silver dime and trim to shape
