Sorry, not a custom, just scarce (256 made).

The gun is a #1AB with a 24" lightweight barrel, no sights and a heavy beavertail forearm. They were made in error. The calibre is 25-06.

In 2006 Lipsey's (one of the exclusive dealers Ruger occasionally does special limited runs with)ordered some #1 AH guns with the usual Henry forearm, but Ruger made up these in error.

Has anyone here any experience actually shooting one of these? My concern is how the gun will balance, especially once the additional weight of a scope is added. I just can't imagine how stable or whippy that lightweight barrel would be.

ANY help would be appreciated. Many Thanks

I thought Dad had one but his turns out to be the 1-AH. He has this to say: "I don't remember how it shoots, but I can bring it up to you so you can try it out. I don't think it would be a good "sit and shoot" gun for prairie dogs, but with a lighter weight scope, it would be great for carrying."

Hope it helps some.

And, from my ever helpful brother: "It will probably shoot like s##t. He should sell it ASAP. I could maybe use it for parts, if it has nice wood I might go as high as $200."

He's always trying to help....

I looked over Ruger 'Tropical' .404 Rimless NE Jeffrey with older vintage Redfield varialble scope (scope worth about $75). The gun was in excellent condition and the price was $699. That tells me rare Ruger isn't worth a extra squat.
