Thought this might interesting to the board:
I have a little project in the works and wanted a new stock on a 16 ga. Remington. I found a man named Chad Chapman out of Rock Springs,Wyoming that primarily stocks rifles, but also does shotguns. I decided to go with maple, but he also does walnut. The fit and finish is superb and best of all it was only $700 to stock it. You might want to give him a try on your next project.

Not to knock a craftsman trying to earn a living, but please have him post pictures of a double barrel shotgun he has stocked. His website address would help also.

Website is right there above my signature. He's new, he's never stocked a double yet,but he's pretty good. I wouldn't have him do a sidelock, but I'm sure he could do a good job on a boxlock. The idea is that he does a good job and doesn't charge you four thousand bucks for it. If you have a gun you want to do and don't want to spend a fortune on, try him. If you have a Holland and Holland restocking job, try Dennis Smith.

Whats that finish the old Browning Bowling ball type ?
What about checkering,I know some like it without but for the market he is going to have to checker or find someone who does to get more work.
Like to see him make it happen,I do see he does use other wood then the maple, nice web site.

Tough crowd. Anti maple, anti high gloss, anti no checkering, anti 870 I think. If the guy can inlet a stock he can do the job. It does take time to get all the lines to flow smoothly like his rifle lines flow. Thanks for the heads up.

It's amazing that the critics are so naļve, maple will "fuzz" if you checker it. I can't believe that some people are so low class as to knock someone else's gun. You may own a doublegun, but you are no gentleman. I haven't given Dave a dime for years because he lets crap like this go on and on at his site. You guys are on you own. don't bother posting some smartass comment because I'm done with doublegunshop.com

I remember a model 12 Winchester stocked by Hal Hartley in maple that was a knockout and it was checkered. The checkering was darkened a bit and really looked nice.
