I bought a nice little Bernardelli sxs. The ejector springs were removed, I think I know why now. I reinstalled the springs and the right barrel trips before the rim clears the face of the received. Any suggestions on a fix or who to send it to.

Thank You

Erich

meantime, it would be wonderful if this fine web site had a forum catagory for double gunsmiths to register their contact info.

Those are probably Southgate ejectors and pretty simple to regulate for someone very familiar with the system. Don't put a file or stone too the kickers yourself--one wrong lick and a real problem can hit you.

take the wood off and look at the ejectors in action.also try to figure if the kickers are soft. study the one that works correctly and go slowly from there or send it to MBAB. MC

Are the springs made so as they will go in one side only or will they go in either side?
If the latter is possible then try swopping them over . If not take it to some one who knows what they are doing as with most ejectors there is more to it than often meets the eye .

Good advice. I've worked on the Southgate ejectors on "El Diablo"
my Spanish sporting gun with the same malady. The operation is not that complicated (to me). Take it slow with a stone.

Question is why does it trip early ?Is it just the regulation , have the springs been put in the wrong sides , are the kickers cocking correctly/fully ? All things to be checked before even thinking about touching anything .

The springs are exactly the same and go in from either side. I'm not going to mess with it. I'm going to drop it off in Bend at Kody Kearchers in Jan. he said he's pretty well booked until then.

Thanks for all the help.
