Would a G grade lefever made about 1914 have a lefever nito special buttplate on it or other Ithaca buttplate on it and be original?

Realize it may not have been completed in 1914 but later after the Ithaca Buy Out. In that case it "Might" have had an Ithaca butt plate.

I am a Remington 1894 collector so not up on Lefever information. The serial number is 70552, the serial number list I looked at on the internet said 1914 I think it was made later than that. The buttplate on my gun has the ring grooves on it (nito special) and looks original to the gun. I was at the OGCA gun show Saturday and saw a all original Lefever GE 20ga with about 70% case color, steel barrels and the buttplate had straight lines on it. Terry

Although Lefever was sold to Ithaca it remained a separate operation from Ithaca Gun Company so I doubt very seriously that any parts were exchanged between the two operations. Since no production record remain an indicator that the gun in question was assembled after the sale of Lefever to Ithaca is to look at the forearm hanger. If there are numbers stamped into the forearm hangar it was produced under Ithaca ownership. Another indicator is higher grade wood than would be expected for the grade of the gun as parts on hand were being used up to liquidate stock.

i have an H grade 12 ga lefever with twist bbls with two SN's on it. The numbers are 4 digits apart @ #73,338 & #73,342, both extremely high numbers for a Lefever. It is marked H on both the bbls & frame, has cocking indicators & Doll's Head as well as late H scroll engravig. Wood looks like DS wood. forend is plain without metal tip or belly escutcheon, stock has uncapped round knob half pistol grip. it is equipped with an Infallible SST. It appears to be a last ditch scrounging of parts to assemble a gun. I have been told that Ithaca did use some Infallible triggers in this era but to my knowledge Lefever never did. I do not know if the but plate is original or not. It has a large V design in it, with a narrow strip of cross lines a ways down from the top, then a plain concave shaped band & then a wider strip of cross lines below the band. I have no idea who made this plate, whether it was a regular gunmakers plate or an aftermarket. This gun does not have any of the normal markings associated with manufacture at Ithaca other than the grade marking on both bbls & frame, but I can only assume it was assembled there. When it come to Lefever there just aren't many Hard & Fast Rules.
