Steven et al.,

What a nice collection of traditional single shot rifles! A lot of collective knowledge also, that shouldn't ever vanish or forgotten. I wish I could know more about them.

I remember getting a Winchester 1885 low wall out of a Chilean rodeo horses trading (yes, young stallion=gelding + rifle). Its barrel bore looked as a rat's nest, so an Husquarna .22 bore barrel was put in place. The gunsmith I commisioned reamed a Hornet K chamber for this rifle. Months later the rifle became a present to my first son and now it is gathering dust in my safe.

Regards,

EJSXS

As I understand it, the smaller species of ground squirrels are commonly known as gophers in many parts of the country (i.e. Minnesota "Golden Gophers"). Some places they are known as "picket pins," too.

I prefer the kind we have down here (California Ground Squirrels), which are at least twice as wide and tall as a "gopher"--MUCH better targets! One of the FEW advantages for a shooter living in CA....

Richardson's ground squirrels, I think?
They are only bigger when they are pregnant…
…and smaller when they are babies.
