Anyone see the Mythbusters show on the Discovery channel this week? The myth was when a cartoon character sticks it's finger in the barrels to a.) stop the shot charge and b.) open the barrels up like a banana peel. The Rem 870 barrel bulged on the previous episode, but the one they showed this week showed how damascus can unravel when SEVERELY abused. It was an 1870's vintage Parker that was used for the test.
It was one of the cooler episodes I've seen....

We may now anticipate a person trying it. Idiocy.

The couple episodes I have seen where guns were involved in various testing clearly illustrated they are out of their league when it comes to guns. May be decent stunt men, I don't know about that, but severely lacking in gun expertise.

Errr.... I suppose that's why they re-did some of the "experiments."

Well, the original concept did not involve either a fluid steel barrel or a damascus barrel. It had to do with a rolled barrel having a seam the length of the barrel. So they have it wrong again. But hey, it a show about entertainment not science.

True. More entertainment than science, but better than "American Idol" or "America's Next Top Model."
It was interesting on how the damascus barrel let go differently than it's modern fluid steel counterpart though....We know this but seeing it in slow motion was nice.

Those guys have waaaaay tooo much fun. I'd take that job in a heartbeat. They may not be all that knowledgable about guns but they do have a pretty diverse knowledge base.
