The biggest difference is the 1900 lacks the Purdy style forend release. The 1900 used a snap on forend similiar to a Parker Trojan.

The 1900 came in only 12 and 16 gauge ('94's came in 10ga) and there were no graded 1900's. Checkering lines per inch was more course than an A grade 1894, 18 lpi vs 20 lpi. Barrel fit to breach balls of reciever was less precise. 1900 serial numbers were in the 300,000 range.

Mine weren't perfect but they were good enough for me, as I usually intend to do stuff to them anyway so I don't look for really high original quality, but I have two ejector 1894 and one 1900 and less than $1000 for all three.

There are more knowledgable people here on the specifics RWTF, but I think of the difference between the 1900 and the 1894s much like the difference between Sterlingworths and Fox graded gun. Essentially similar designs, one "adjusted" so it could hit a lower price point.

Jeez, I keep writing posts just as you guys are so my responses are a dollar short and a day late. Well, actually a minute or two.

Fox, given the absence of a second pellet count number, have you actually measured the chokes? And if so, what are they?

Is the LAEY stamp found on both steel and Damascus barrels? Or, only one type?

1900 and 1894 quick ID for me is the proud receiver on the 1900. Not sure if this is the rule or not.

Actually, the Remington Arms Co. catalogue text for the A-/AE-/AR-/AER/AO-/AEO-Grades states "half or full pistol grip" from the 1899 catalogue on through to the end. The 1908, 1908-09 and the 1909 Remington Arms Co. catalogues picture a straight grip gun for the AO-/AEO-Grade?!? I'm sure that over the last 55 years or so I've seen hundreds of A quality Remington Hammerless Doubles with half-pistol grip stocks for every one I've seen with a believed to be original capped full pistol or straight grip stock, but they do exist.

Yes I did- I use the brass Galazan step choke gauge, and I get Imp. Cyl. right barrel and Imp. Mod. Left. RWTF
