I recently dissassembled a used A grade Fox circa. 1914. It is missing, and no I didn't lose it, the action hold open. This piece is spring driven and goes under the main trigger plate screw. It keeps the bolt back while the action is open and then is pushed out of the way when the barrel extension returns to battery and the bolt automatically rotates and locks. This lets you just snap the action closed rather than having to rotate the bolt manualy to let the action close.

I have tried to join the Fox board but nobody is replying there.

Who would have or can make this part. Also does someone have a schematic of a Fox action. CSMC doesn't have or won't sell this part.

HELP !!!!!!!!

You can post on that site without joining. Might take a while but someone there will likely respond, and there are guys there with parts.

I think that part is just a short pin--can be made from the shank of the correct size twist drill, or drill rod. You need the spring to make it work, and pop up. You could do trial and error, to find the right length, and right spring length. Do you have the spring?? Without the spring, it won't pop up.

I have the spring but no pin. Do you have any idea who long it needs to be? I assume the end needs to be round and not square.

Don't know, but a start would be to find the right dia. drill shank, push it in until the lever is held back, then start figuring out the length required to slightly compress the spring behind the trigger plate screw.

Sorry; I think I misspoke. What I meant was that you can post without joining the FCA but I see now that's not what you said. You would still have to register with the board to post.
