I am fairly sure this is some early engraving by the master W.E.Disney.
Although out of my price range it is truly one of my all time favorites. cool

Anyone else have a favorite of their own? (Please, no American made shotgun bashing here whistle )

Wow this makes me laugh! When I glanced at it, my first thought was folk art, then I saw what it was on. What a surprise.

I always admired the famous "Frogmore?" Ballard. It depicts a shooting scene with frogs shooting and holding a turtle with a target painted on him. I admire both the original and the one created a few years ago.

I think I remember a Burl Ives song about that fox with the goose!

My favorite goofy engraving image is the goose-stepping duck on the floorplate of field grade Simson doubles from the '20s and '30s (On the other hand, given what the Nazis did to the Simson family--while keeping their duck--maybe it ISN'T so amusing....).

It's almost like the metal engraving was from a period different from the stock embellishment. Two separate styles.

Frogmore Ballard is my Favorite. Followed close by Parker Dogs, Birds, and Rabbits each with his own look none exact like a photograph.

Love the engraving on that wheel-lock above; a true masterpiece!

Here is another example of some lighthearted engraving, this one from a German Haenel-Aydt schuetzen rifle (ca 1890) that was in my collection for many years.

Why a cherub? Well, why not!
