Mike:
I have a No 2 AYA sidelock double which was built in 1983. The case coloring is still beautiful. Would this have been done at the St Ledger shop?
Jim
N' B: I posed this question directly to Mike but if anyone else knows the answer feel free to chime in.

Suhl isn't exactly a taxi ride from the Frankfurt airport. It will take some planning to get there.

Jim- do you have a copy of Terry Wieland's Spanish Best? He may get to this question somewhere in there. I would be very surprised to learn that any Spanish maker could afford to send their guns to St. Ledgers for CCH, particularly for a mid-range gun like the No. 2. I would expect that work to be done inhouse or in the trade in Eibar.

Italiansxs, that gun is now nearly 30 years old but as I am a good frind of the owner of ASI UK I can ask him. Did you buy it from the factory in Spain or was it imported from the UK ? I do know that the No.1´s and all the No.1 deluxes are case hardened by St Ledger

Thanks Mike:
I bought the gun used from the daughter of the deceased owner so the information I have is sketchy at best. It is a two barrel set in 20 and 28 gauge. She was able to tell me she knew her father bought the set new but the only information with the set are the two proving certificates for both sets of barrels.
I currently have a request for additional information into AYA but they are closed for vacation during the Month of August.
My picture above doesn't do it justice but the case coloring is beautiful and still very vivid after 30 years.
Jim
N.B: It was NOT my intent to hi-jack this thread. If Admin. wants to move my posts to a new thread that would be fine with me.

Jim - what proofs does it bear? Any importer information stamped on the barrels?

Doverham:
I'll have to take some pictures of the proofs. There are no importers marks on this gun whatsoever.
I will do this tomorrow and start a new thread.
Jim
