I recently acquired this Ithaca gun(motor) case and I'm wondering what particular gun this was made for? The dimensions are 35 1/2" L x 7 1/2" W x 5 1/2" H. Apparently it would hold up to 3 barrels. I would also be interested in knowing how old it is?

I agree with RHD45. Probably from the late 1960-1970s. I forgot when they were imported and not near my resources.

There were also SKB 600 three barrel set in the 1970's to perhaps very early 1980's.

If this case is for a skeet set wouldn't it be equipped to hold four sets of barrels below and only the frame of the gun in the separate upper compartment?

Thanks for the responses. I guess some skeet shooters didn't care to shoot in the 12 gauge class! wink Seriously I can see it wouldn't have been practical to provide 12 gauge barrels on that size frame. I don't have an SKB so I'll probably sell it. Could you give me an idea of what it's worth?
Jim
Update:
I just went out on the net and looked at every 3 barrel Ithaca SKB set I could find. Each set is put up in a flat case with the gun and barrel on the same level and the cases are brown in color.
Gut feel tells me this is an older case and I still can't seem to find anything exactly like it.

Perazzi trap set, provided for a combo set. The extra slot was for what ever you wanted there. BBL or cleaning rod I have a couple of these. T never liked them. Came with various trades over the years.

Skeet shooters in the 70's and 80's often shot a automatic for the 12 ga. event. Mid 70's were about the end of the three and four barrel sets as tube sets took over. A few tried to shoot 1100's in all four events, but by about 1980-1985 the tube set was king and barrel sets were dead as short barrels for Skeet.

The old SKB's used to have a case just like the one you have. Use to shoot with a fellow who had one. As I remember he shot the 28 about 90% of the time. Most of the late or current ones do seem to be the flat type. Am sure they both have been used. I guess it is fair to call a case perhaps 35-45 years old but old to me is nearer a hundred, pre-WWII at least. As to value it should fall in the $2-300 range. If you look on Ebay you will see cases like your form time to time sell in that range. Now to have one made today might set you back twice that much.

I've got one exactly like it. I bought a 32" BE Fox last January, and it came in it. Don't have any idea as to value, yours is in better condition inside than mine.

All my best, SRH
