I was at one of my favorite adult toy stores today(Gene Sears Supply in El Reno Ok). He had two Winchester Model 201 Classic Doubles side by side, a 20 gauge and a 12. The 20 had vent rib, twin white beads, sst, fixed chokes and I'm pretty sure extractors. Very nice wood, $1995.00. Pistol grip and semi-beavertail. Both seemed a little on the heavy side.

The 12 was set up like the 20 except it had choke tubes, $1595.00.

Both had a modest amount (very modest) of engraving.

Condition on both was "as new".

Are these rare? Are they priced fair?

Thanks

Bob

Bob,
They both have ejectors. The 201 is actually a Parker Repro in disguise. When Winchester did the Reagent/Parker Reproduction deal, they decided to offer their own version a few years later in a blued and slightly different cosmetically offering that never really caught on. I think they meant to mimic the look of a 21 somewhat. You see them for sale from time to time in the $2000/$2200 range. $1595 is a really good price on a 12 ga.

They are not bad guns. The 26" only barrels hurt their sales too.

When the factory in Japan shut down, some leftover 201s were finished and assembled here in the good ol' USA. I don't remember who's work this was, but one 20 ga. I bought new went right back to the seller with unacceptably coarse frame polishing.
