In my opinion this is an upgraded gun. I think this is a gun a looked at a few months a go which would be a an upgraded 1909 grade 0. Topgun hit the salient facts. The gun should have ejectors as all the grade 4 20's do, mattin on rib, etc. It is a very nice upgrade and probably a nice gun but the price should reflect an upgrade not and original IMHO. A letter would be cheap insurance before big money is paid. Wish you well!

Another picture and sorry for the poor quality.

As you can see it is a different gun from the one discussed above.

There has been some discussion about it being an upgrade. I assume what is ment by that is a very tallented artist upgraded it from a lower grade, something as close as they could get to a grade 4. So I wanted you to see the water table and get your thoughts.

Doug I will call Cody tomorrow and see if I can get the information, even if I have to become a member. I think everyone is interested so I will let you know what that info is when I get it. Again, I really appreciate all the comments! Bob

Kevin, Sorry, I was adding my post as you did yours. The gun I mentioned was the from the post before yours. Not the O grade you are talking about. Does my picture change your thoughts as to it being the same gun?

I am not sure if you listed the serial number but if it is 1423 it will come back from both Cody and LCSCA sources as a 1909 20 gauge grade 0. I'm 99.9% sure it is an upgrade so not a high dollar gun, in my humble opinion. Wish you well with these fine LC Smiths. Hope you love the Parkers too!

Ok, now we are getting somewhere. Kevin...that is the serial number. I have not wanted to give the number because I don't own the gun and am not sure what is acceptable. Thanks you! This should clear up lots of questions from all of us. You guys are really good, you came to correct conclusion, even with poor pictures!

One thing that kept nagging at me during this whole conversation was the wood on the gun. None of my pictures showed the wood and I kick myself for not getting any. This is after the fact, but I remembered not being impressed with the wood for the Grade gun it was. I usually notice the quality of wood and remember it as not being highly figured. I would imagine that would be representative of an O grade gun. Maybe Kevin can comment on that and confirm what I think I saw.

So, more questions and discussion please.

I would say who ever did the work is very good. Did they weld up the water table and then restamp the grade?

This is a great example for everyone to be careful in what they are considering and to get others opinion. That being said, what would the real value of this gun be as an upgrade?

Thanks Everyone,
Bob

Sorry,

However the rib extension looks VERY similar to the 1st. gun.

If it is correct ... it is rare as I've never seen a high grade LC Smith with such a rib extension treatment....

but never say never !!!

Be Safe All, Jimmy B.
