I am refinishing the superposed stock I bought to get the forearm and butt closer together in color. I did the Wonko brew for a week in acetone with little effect. Then went to BIX paint stripper, have applied it 5 times and just a couple places along the edges have stripped.

How does one get the browning finish off?

thanks,

Charlie

The only time I ever stripped a poly type stock finish off (Rem. 1100) I used Dad's Stripper. Worked great.

I have used Citrasol with good results on Browning and Beretta
o/u's with very good results. It is not as nasty as some but still requires caution.

You need a Marine Grade stripper for best results. I have been using Jasco or Do-It-Best Marine Stripper. It takes time but they work.

Either scrape it off and/or just sand it down . Thats the way I do them and find it less trouble and a better starting surface than stripper most times .

Home depot had the Jasco. I will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks to all.
