+4 for TSD.

He made my little Kimber 84 look new. It broke at the worst place through the wrist/magazine box/rear tang area.

Either way, don't feel sick. You just got yourself a restored stock.

Adam, great news here. Lots of good references have been cited. That is a repairable break and it likely won't show sign of repair.
$400-$750 to fix.

+1 about hurrying up the repair, time is bad for the wood. Sooner repaired, the better the repair.

Hi Adam.
I have worked on far worse brakes from what I can see in your photograph. It would be a very good Idea to remove the pressure by removing the trigger guard screws so the broken ends dont rub together under pressure removing the end of wood splinters. You are lucky that the chequering is in good order and that will hide the majority of the break line. Usually the repair would consist of two dowels positionedeither side of the top strap to trigger plate screw some repairers use brass stainless steel or fibreglass dowels and a top quality epoxy resin adhesive. The photographs are of a splinter forend that split into two halfs end to end the break line is at the point of the arrows, I doweled and glued it about twenty years ago and the gun is in continuous use the line is noticeable when pointed out but in normal circumstances it is invisible. So your problem is not all gloom and doom

Good luck with your problem

Dennis Earl Smith- aka- "The Stock Doctor" without any reservation-- lovely gun, damn shame the break- was it due to a drop or fall, if I may be so bold? I recall the late Capt. Paul A. Curtis in his "Guns and Gunning" suggesting a POW or semi-pg for a light weight small gauge double gun- the buttstock is smaller in dia. at the wrist, whether a boxlock or a sidelock gun, and so less mass of wood than on a 12 bore- But contact Dennis- and rest assured if it can be repaired, he is "The Man"--if possible, would you be kind enough to share "before and after fotos" of this repair project? Adam,
I suggest Pat Felix in Cusseta Ga.( just outside Fort Benning). This would only be a short drive from Dothan, and you could discuss the repair "face to face". He has done excellent work for me and I have seen excellent work he has done for others. What he did for me was almost exactly what you need done.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I ended up sending the gun back as the seller would not discount the gun enough to justify the cost of the repair and the lost value.

Thanks again.

Adam
