Had good luck years back with goex FFFg, 3drams, and #4 ITX in a brass hull.It patterned just like a factory federal load but safer in the old gun.
Cleanup was a snap with a tiny bit of balistol and water. ITX is heavier than steel but safer on older barrels. It ain't cheap, though.

If the #6 shot was steel, at 1100fps from the muzzle, it won't carry much energy downrange. Might be enough to stun a bird at 40 yards but it won't penetrate much.

Um, steel. Would not advise it but if I was shooting steel I'd migrate up to Ts, possibly with the other tube with Fs, if or when allowed.
Kind Regards,

You need at least 3's, which are hard to find, in steel. 2's if not 3's. Forget 6 steel. JR

I wholeheartedly agree with Stallones!!! Forget the pyrodex and go with real black powder. I gave up on it a long time ago due to faulty ignition and poor performance in my flinter during colder weather.

For decoying ducks, I have had good success with 2F and #5 Bismuth. #3 T/M is a duck killer as well.

I always shot 1 1/8 of #4's with 85grs of 2F. That was before lead was outlawed. For geese over decoys #2's. Also liked 94grs of 2F.

Didn't realize there was two pages on this thread - sounds like a good load other than not knowing what size shot you're useing. You may have to change that because you have enough powder. It may have been overkill, but at one time in my MLing 8ga I used 400grs of 1F and 4oz of #2's [ lead shot ] - kill em stone dead at 60 to 70 yards over decoys [ geese ].
