Tough call...
As incredibly lame as this sounds, my "go to" gun is still the crappy Stoeger Condor 12 with the 26" O/U barrels. I got it 2nd hand and had taken the trigger apart and cleaned up the action.
My friend had a gunsmith install a dead mule recoil pack but the recoil pad was ruined in the process. So I pu a new Pachmayr on it and it points like a kid in a candy store.
$250 total investment and I added a pair of new chokes. The sad part is is that with a rifled choke, it shoots Lee 1oz wad-slugs accurate out to 50 yards to under 3".
For a rifle, I still love my dads old Springfield 1903a3 sportster. A bit of a handful with 200gr bullets, but very easy when using 150gr handloads.
And for a pistol, my trusty ruger Blackhawk in 45LC with the shorter barrel and custom springs. Just a really solid handgun and fun to shoot. I take it out back with birdshot and dispense with crows in the garden.

My serious shooting gun is a 20ga Skt/Mod 28" VHE Parker which the serial number indicates was made the same year I was born (1940). We didn't meet until we were 40 years old though. Use it for all upland including S.Dakota pheasants, AZ quail, dove and periodically sporting clays. Bought a newer 20ga O/U B. Rizzini for clays a couple years ago - feels like I am being disloyal when I take it instead of the Parker. Got a big ugly Benelli 12 3.5" pump for coyotes.

I have a Lindner FW 12 bore among the guns in my safe, that for the last two seasons has been not only my go to gun, but so prefered that it is nearly my exclusive gun.
At 5 pounds 9 ounces she carrys like a feather and is as quick and deadly as a viper.

Wow, there's some nice guns there gentlemen. I get the impression that most are definate keepers, the only way you'd part with them was if somebody prised open your cold dead fingers for them. It's good to have a favourite, I like all guns but some just seem 'right', they serve the purpose well and hit where you point them. Whether they're American, British , European or Japanese, it doesn't matter, you really can call them 'your gun'... Marvellous stuff indeed.
Researcher... The picture of you with the guns and birds is fantastic, if ever a picture could tell a story, that's it. I'd bet it brings back some good memories when you look at it.
There's a good few fox guns had a mention too, I'm not familiar with them being over here in blighty but they sound to be good solid working guns.
Thankyou for all the replies, keep 'em coming, it's been a damn good, Interesting read so far.
Rust never sleeps !

My 1926 Winchester model 12 16 gauge. Used well, looks pretty shabby too, but it is one dynamic game getting sob. Took more Huns with it yesterday, went 4 for 4 :-). Easy thing to do with this old friend.

A 1915 A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 20ga that Leslie Paul worked over. 5/14, it's a wand with No. 4 barrels. I "might" sell it back to my vendor to buy a nice David McKay Brown 20 ga. But, then again, maybe not- the Fox has grouse radar over my GSP
