Mr. Bill Hanus passed from our presence this past week. He was found at home on the floor and life saving measures were not successful. His wife notified me this evening of his passing. He will have a small memorial service in Newport, OR this next week.
We knew him as a champion of the samller shotgun gauges. His career included journalistic success, marketing prowess, and integrity of service to his clientele. There was much more to Bill than met the eye. He was a joy to talk to and his knowledge of the gun industry was enclyclopedic. He will be missed.
I have had the pleasure of working with Bill for the past eight years on a professional/personal level. His friendship and counsel will be sorely missed. His current sales orders will be shipped.

Sad news indeed and thanks for posting Dennis, Bill will be missed.
My 94 year young cousin and I would slip up 395 to 20 and drop into Newport for some deep sea fishing and of course visit Bill to say hello & see what new goodies he had on hand.
Sadly I have not made that trip recently.
May you rest in peace Bill

OK, it was pointed out my dates are off. Bill passed on Sept 12, 2012. I was a little dazed by tiredness and the quickness of his passing. We had just talked a week before and all was well.

This evening, I spoke with Betty, his widow, and indeed he has passed. I told her our prayers were with her and asked if there was anything that we on the forum could assist with. I never met Bill nor bought a gun from him. But I always enjoyed reading his website and his enthusiasm for 16 gauge guns. RIP and condolences to his family.
