And I never felt so inferior in my life. crazy

My uncle has a fairly good collection of American double guns and a few interesting rifles.

But, his eye has always been drawn to the 8 gauge doubles and exposed hammers.

I can't recall all the models, only to say there was an LC Smith and what looked like a Parker on his stand.

I didn't have the courage to ask about prices, but he offered to give me some trigger time with the 40" double that weighs 20lbs.!!!

Larry, there is a letter in this month's Shooting Gazette magazine published in England with an appeal concerning big 8's. It appears to be an effort to publish a book on big bore guns and the writer is asking for details of interesting specimens. If you are interested in contacting him the details are as follows: Bob Watcham, Marshland Book, Great Horksley, Essex, England. e-mail marshlandbooks@btinternet.com ot Tel: 01206 272037. Lagopus.....

The only one of my eights that makes me feel "inferior" is my Greener Royal, nitro proofed for 3 3/4" shells. I don't just feel inferior, I am inferior to the big Greener.

Bob is a great chap and a genuine wildfowler, being a member of clubs in Devon and East Anglia. He purchased his own big 8 some time back (used regularly on the marsh) and this is a valid attempt at compiling a good book specifically focused on big bores and their use. Bob also runs "Marshland Books" - arguably one of the best wildfowling book agents in the UK.

No website to the best of my belief, but I would call Bob and he may be able to send a catalogue. He has a superb array of wildfowling books to suit every pocket and I am a regular purchaser, especially of some of his hard-to find 1st editions.

He doesn't have a web site any more but will send out catalogues if you contact him. Best to make contact via e-mail to see if he wants to include big bore guns from across the Atlantic; I'm sure he would be interested anyway. Lagopus.....
