Going to an auction tomorrow and they've got some interesting stuff on the bill. What would you look at if you had to stay under about $1000 or so? I already have an Ithaca NID and a Fox Sterlingworth but have yet to acquire a hammer double. Which one do you think I should investigate? Some really interesting stuff there. Iman auction

Given the conditions of the guns pictured on their website, I don't see one worth anywhere near $1,000.

Me either. I was just referring to the current size of my gun kitty. I guess I'll have a better idea of what I might be interested in once I eyeball a few things.

3" SxS would be nice waterfowl medicine. Other than that, there are some nice 22's.

James Julia has a big auction coming up in March as does his Brother-in-Law,Poulins, who typically sell the lower priced guns. Check out their web sites & place your bid on several (I usually bid about 60-80% of the low estimate) They have some nice doubles that will go for less than $1,000 IMHO.

Well most all the hammer doubles were junk. Broken stocks, missing stocks, cracked stocks, dented barrels, loose actions, missing parts etc. Most brought between $100-$300. Too much for a wall hanger that wasn't even that pretty. I brought nothing home.
